World Music Day Call for Auditions Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, etc to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public. Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) openly calls for Newcomer live musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists and bands to partake in the Celebratory Concert, World

Music Day, which will take place on 25 June 2022. Auditions will take place on Saturday, 4th June 2022 from 1pm to 5pm. The FNCC aims to promote and support Namibian artists and cultural projects by offering our know-how, resources, and equipment. World Music Day, Make Music Day or Fête de la Musique is an annual celebration that takes place to honour newcomer and professional musicians alike.

The primary aim of celebrating World Music Day is to provide free music to everyone and to encourage singers/ musicians, etc to showcase their work to the world.
Interested live musicians are requested to come and audition at the FNCC their composed/prepared musical talents.

• This is an open call for all live musicians to audition here at the FNCC on Saturday, 4th June to stand the chance of partaking in the World Music Day celebratory concert.

1. What is the project about?

• The celebratory concert will take place on 25 June 2022 at the FNCC; the selected live musicians will take part in the concert, forming the line-up that celebrates music.

2. Who funded the project?

• The Franco Namibian Cultural Centre is funding the celebratory concert.

3. What is the role of FNCC?

• The FNCC plays a role in facilitating the creative process of the project.

4. Is it only for Newcomer musicians?

• Yes, the call out is only for newcomer live musicians, it is for the reason the aim of celebrating World Music Day is to provide free music to everyone and to encourage amateur musicians to showcase their work to the world.

5. How can I participate?

• All live musicians can attend the open call on the 4th of June from 1pm to 5pm.

6. What must I prepare for in my showcase?

• Please prepare a short performance showcase of your choice, including a short introduction of yourselves.

7. What are the video submission requirements?

• Each video must be submitted with the newcomer musician/band/solo artists contact details.

8. Who will assess the audition?

• The FNCC will assess the auditions on artistic merit, preparation, delivery and stage presence.

9. If I am selected, what can I perform?

• All live musicians are encouraged to perform original music only.

10. When will the concert take place?

• The concert will take place on 25 June 2022 from 11:00 – 17:00 at the FNCC as well as a secondhand market.

11. Would this be a paying gig? • No, it is not a paying gig.

12. Will there be a committed band for the concert, that I can play my music with?

• No, there will not be a committed band. All live musicians are encouraged to perform fully as solo artists, duets or bands/musical ensembles.

13. Can anyone attend the concert?

• Yes, the concert is open to the public, there will be a secondhand market held at the same time.
