World Music Day, born in France in 1982 as “Fête de la Musique” started with a clear intention: take music out of formal spaces and place it where people already are. Streets, parks, and public squares became the stage as a symbol of inclusivity and shared cultural moment open to everyone.

From 20–27 June 2026, World Music Week 2026 in Namibia, presented by local authorities and regional cultural offices in collaboration with the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) and the Embassy of France in Namibia, carries this idea across Namibia. What began in France as a single day becomes a week-long programme moving through towns and communities nationwide.

Programme:
•  20 June - Mariental - Persianer Hall - 10:00
•  20 June - Otavi – Community Hall- 10:00
•  20 June - Swakopmund (Cancelled)
•  21 June - Windhoek - The Sunday Market @The Village - 09:00
•  26 June - Okahandja - Okahandja Community Hall - 15:00
•  27 June - Windhoek - Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) - 11:00
•  27 June - Katima Mulilo - Open Market- 10:00
•  27 June - Ndiyona - Ndiyona Tribal Office- 12:00

Across these days, music shows up in different forms on stages and in workshops.

Join us across Namibia. Open to all.
