World Music Day 2016
This year we are celebrating the 21st anniversary of World Music Day (WMD) in Namibia with concerts all throughout the country with the generous support of Total Namibia !
This year, the French originating Fête de la Musique will take place on Saturday 25th June in four towns - Windhoek, Rundu, Katima Mulilo and Oshakati.
As is tradition in countries from all around the world, the FNCC and Namibia will again join in the global celebration of music. The concerts are free of charge and the participating artists from all walks of life will perform for free, just for love of music.
The one-day music festival is an excellent opportunity for both upcoming and established artists to showcase their talent to a large and diverse audience.
This event brings together people from diverse backgrounds, regardless of age or cultural upbringing. The family-friendly festival also is a destination for families with their children who are able to enjoy running around, while listening to great musicians. A winter market will also take place during the day at Palm Tree Park in Windhoek, with dozens of stalls of food, crafts, drinks and activities!
The FNCC is proud to provide a platform to bring out the true potential of upcoming and renowned musicians to perform, and to be a facilitator in bringing the crowd the best of Namibian talents and the true value of local musicians!
Some of the participating musicians this year include Priscilla the Dessert Queen, The Fate of Miss H, Savannah Afros, Toshi, Formula Band, and many more who will showcase a wide array of music and get the crowds dancing.
