Shirely Valentine is an award-winning romantic comedy-drama that follows middle aged Shirley Valentine in an unexpected discovery of herself, and the rekindling of her childhood dreams and youthful love of life.

The production takes the form of a monologue by a homemaker before and after a transforming holiday in Greece. Join Sandy Rudd and Lize Ehlers as they locally interpret this classic.  Shirley Valentine becomes Meisie Valentine Van Mariental and is off to Mauritius.

Sandy Rudd has gained a great reputation over the years as a director who can localize Eurocentric plays to suit Namibian audiences.  Meme Mia! was a most successful translation of Mama Mia! Lize Ehlers brings relatable local touches to the play by having translated the script to bring it much closer to home. 

This show will guarantee to be very charming and funny with Lize Ehlers taking on a strong southern Namibian accent. The production will be multi lingual. Afrikaans, English and French. This script it is very liberating for anyone who is in an abusive or unhappy relationship.  It has a strong message of  ‘fortune favours the brave.’
