Grassroots Poetry Slam
For the fourth consecutive year, aspiring poets will have the opportunity to dip their feet in the water of verbal arts through a poetry slam work shop created for school learners that will culminate in a public performance during this fabulous evening full of talent! During the five-day workshop at the FNCC, primary and high school learners will be introduced to the art of slam poetry addressing social issues relevant to the youth, as well as being trained in expressing themselves through poetry, under the theme: “Tomorrow and yesterday”.
After the positive initiation of the project in 2013 and the success for the seasons 2 and 3 in 2014 and 2015, the FNCC and local artists are teaming up once again, this year, in partnership with Spoken word, Township production, Nam TV, and FNB. Artists involved this year include Toshi Haufiku, Singer/Musician, Leena Shipwata, Poet, Cecilia Nghidengwa, Poet Melody, Poet and Nikhita Winkler, Choreographer. Special mentorships will also be given by Micheal Pulses, Toshi, Einos Kamati & Shigwedha Templas, Ann Singer as well as Sean K.
With the generous support from FNB Namibia.
