Elyseé Short Film Premiere
Armistice Day is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning.
For the Centennial this year, the Goethe-Institut Namibia and Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) this year collaborated in a short-film workshop for 50 learners from schools in Windhoek that offer German and French as a Foreign Language, under the theme of reconciliation through culture.
Local partners of this project include Joe-Vision Production, Namibia Film Commission, National Arts Council and the College of the Arts.
Funded by the German-French Cultural Fund, the short-film workshop covered many aspects of the genre; from screenplay and casting to shooting and directing films that highlight the role of culture in reconciliation. Learners explored reconciliation through culture and produced a short film.
This development in the Franco-German friendship has over time blossomed into a tight network of relations at all levels of politics, business, culture and society in general.
This premiere is to present the works of the learners who participated in the short film workshops.
