Contemporary dance is a dance performance genre that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world. First Rain Dance Theater has been training dancers in contemporary dance for the last 5 years and will be bringing their expertise to the FNCC.

Come join the First Rain Dance Theater team, headed by award-winning choreographer Haymich Olivier and international dance sensation Tulimelila Shityuwete, as they give the public public the opportunity to partake in basic contemporary dance tutorials, exploring the internal connection of mind, body and spirit through movement. This will be done through the introduction of basic contemporary dance techniques, contact improvisation, some basic choreographies as well as performances.
