Celebrate International Women’s Day with the Screening of Marinette at FNCC
Director: Julien Faraut
Marinette tells the inspiring story of Marinette Pichon, one of the most influential female footballers in France. The film traces her journey as a pioneer in women’s football, highlighting her triumphs, struggles, and the barriers she overcame to leave an indelible mark on the sport. Beyond the football field, Marinette is a story of determination, courage, and advocacy for women’s rights and equality.
The FNCC invites the public, sports enthusiasts, students, and advocates for gender equality to attend this special screening. Following the film, audiences are invited to a Q&A session with Namibian footballer Stacy Naris, a trailblazing defender whose career spans youth to senior national representation and who has been a leading figure for women’s football in Namibia. Born in Lüderitz, Naris began playing football in the streets before rising through all levels of national teams — from under-17 and under-20 squads to the senior Brave Gladiators — and becoming renowned for her tenacity, versatility, and leadership on the pitch. She earned recognition for cementing her place as a competitive left-back, adapting her game with skill and determination, and eventually captaining national sides while consistently defying expectations throughout her career.
The discussion will be moderated by Ndamono Shikoyeni from UNESCO, creating a meaningful dialogue on women in sport, representation, and empowerment in the spirit of International Women’s Day.
