Acoustic Friday
Fusing shambo, ethno-vocal, jazz, soul, beat, urban jive and Southern African traditional music elements, Mushaandja and the Tschuku Tschukus produce a fine and organic sound called Afro-Chant. The ensemble has been finding its feet since 2012 when Mushaandja released Black Bantu Child (EP).
In this particular offering, Mushaandja established an original style following in the footsteps of legendary singers such as the late Jackson Kaujeua, Tate Kwela and Mme Nanghili Nashima.
Today, the band also draws inspiration from other African artists such as Angelique Kidjo, Jabu Khanyile, Thandiswa Mazwai, Simphiwe Dana, Busi Mhlongo and Chiwoniso Maraire. The ensemble has performed at numerous reputable festivals, occasions and venues across Namibia including World Music Day Celebrations, National Theatre of Namibia, Franco Namibian Cultural Centre, The Goethe Centre, Participatory Design Conference, Namibia Food and Wine Festival amongst others.
