Caroline arrives in a village in southern France. She must organize the funeral of her mother, with whom she had little contact. She is greeted by the fickle Pattie, who tells her, all her sexual experiences with men of the area. While the valley is preparing for the famous festivals of August 15, the body of the deceased suddenly disappears.
